Something about this woman intrigued me. I thought she was especially attractive. I knew she was listening to the music with particular sensitivity, and she seemed so sad and forlorn I couldn't help feeling she needed a friend.
I can remember as a young man being invited to the neighborhood bar especially in the summertime to knock back a few in celebration of almost anything. These parties would last until all hours.
This painting is not really a "noir painting", but because of its subject matter, it fits the spirit of"noir" --meaning it has a lot of the gritty reality of that period. |
